The Confession – Part 2
Monday continued …
Despite the limitations they both knew they had to respect — Anna’s injury and the concerns surrounding her pregnancy — the moment between them quickly deepened. What began as gentle closeness soon grew more intense, their emotions spilling into every touch and every glance.
Anna could not move freely, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she reached for him in the ways she could, her hands resting against him, holding him close as if afraid the moment might slip away.
Hou Yi responded just as instinctively, lowering his head to press soft, lingering kisses along her shoulder and down her arm, careful, always careful, yet unable to fully hide how much he needed her.
Before either of them realized how much time had passed, the sharp sound of Hou Yi’s 6:30 a.m. alarm cut through the quiet.
He let out a quiet breath, reluctant to move.
All he wanted was to stay where he was — with her — not just saying what he felt, but showing it in every way he could.
He pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes.
“Do you want to come in with me?” he asked softly.
Anna smiled, a hint of warmth and playfulness in her expression.
“Yi… of course. Both to get ready, and to go to work.”
Her tone carried more meaning than her words alone, and he couldn’t help the faint color that rose to his face. For a brief second, his thoughts drifted back to another morning they had shared, another moment when everything between them had felt just as overwhelming.
Only now, he realized, what he had seen in her eyes back then — and again last night — had been real all along.
After helping Anna carefully onto her crutches, they made their way slowly toward the ensuite.
They paused briefly to choose their clothes for the day. As Anna handed him what she had selected, she spoke quietly:
“Even though I love having our families here… I can’t wait until we’re back in our own place. Just the two of us.”
Hou Yi leaned in and kissed her gently.
“Neither can I,” he replied. “That place means everything to me. It’s where our life really began… and where our future started.”
His hand rested lightly over her abdomen, a silent acknowledgment of what they now shared.
Anna steadied herself and returned the kiss before stepping aside so he could gather what he needed.
When they entered the bathroom, Hou Yi carefully protected her cast and helped her sit comfortably under the shower. He moved with quiet focus, making sure everything was safe before turning his attention back to her.
As he stepped closer, Anna reached out and touched his arm, stopping him.
He paused.
There was something in her eyes — something determined, something vulnerable, something deeply sincere.
Hou Yi understood immediately what she was trying to express, even without words.
For a moment, he hesitated.
Not because he didn’t want her closeness — but because he was worried about her, about pushing too far while she was still recovering.
“Are you sure?” he asked quietly.
Anna held his gaze.
“If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have stopped you,” she said softly. “We may have limits right now… but that doesn’t mean we can’t show each other how we feel.”
Her voice was calm, but filled with meaning.
“We’ll find our own way.”
That was enough.
Whatever hesitation Hou Yi had disappeared.
He stepped closer, and instead of rushing, he let the moment unfold slowly, letting their closeness build in a quieter, more careful way — one that respected her condition, but didn’t deny what existed between them.
The sound of water filled the space, softening everything around them.
Time seemed to blur again.
They didn’t need words.
They didn’t need urgency.
They only needed each other.
And in that small, quiet space, they found a way to stay connected — not through intensity alone, but through trust, patience, and something far deeper than either of them had expected.
