Happy Birthday Triplets – Part 1

Saturday

Alecia slowly woke, feeling herself being gently pulled back into the warmth behind her. As she settled against James, she heard his soft voice near her ear.

“Good morning, Mrs. Jones… and happy birthday.”

She turned in his arms, meeting his gaze with a quiet smile.

“Good morning… my husband.”

James leaned in and kissed her softly. But Alecia wasn’t ready for the moment to end so quickly. She held onto him, deepening the closeness between them, as if trying to hold onto every second.

What they had shared the night before had changed something inside her.

For the first time in a long while, she no longer felt trapped by the memories of what had once hurt her. Instead, she felt safe. Seen. Respected.

And that made all the difference.

James stayed close, his touch gentle and patient, never rushing her, never asking for more than she was willing to give. The quiet connection between them felt more meaningful than anything she had ever known before.

Alecia shifted slightly, resting closer to him, letting herself relax completely in his presence.

After a while, she let out a soft breath.

“That’s a perfect way to start the day…”

Before James could respond, her phone suddenly rang.

Still half-curled against him, she reached for it.

“Hello?”

“Happy birthday, baby girl.”

“Daddy… it’s early,” she murmured.

“Alecia, it’s nearly eleven. Your friends have been calling nonstop. And don’t forget — your party is at one. I’ve sent your clothes up.”

“Dad… just give us a little time. We’ll be there.”

James took the phone gently from her and ended the call, just catching the tail end of her father’s warning.

Pulling her back into his arms, he leaned in again, but before the moment could continue, there was a knock at the door.

“Room service. Delivery.”

Alecia sighed softly.

“That must be from Dad.”

James got up reluctantly, slipping on a robe before opening the door.

“Yes?”

“Sir, we were asked to deliver this bag and breakfast.”

He took the bag, then stepped aside briefly.

“Bring it in.”

Within minutes, everything was set up and the staff left.

Alecia stepped out of bed and took the bag from him, placing it aside. She looked at James, her eyes warm, playful again.

“We have a little time before the party… what do you think?”

James smiled faintly, already knowing her answer.

Without another word, he reached for her and pulled her gently back toward him.

This time, there was no urgency.

Only familiarity.

Only trust.

They stayed close, sharing a quiet moment that didn’t need words — one that belonged only to them, far removed from the world waiting outside that door.

For Alecia, it wasn’t about anything physical anymore.

It was about reclaiming herself.

And for the first time, she felt whole.
