Buying Rings at Fengs – Part 3
Tuesday, continued …
Inside the VIP room, Anna sat in stunned silence, appalled by the sheer greed emanating from Lu Jinhu.
“The best I can offer, without seeking the owner’s approval, is a twenty percent discount in addition to the standard ten percent discount we provide to clients like you, Madam Lu,” Manager Yong stammered. He knew full well that such a concession would require significant justification to the owner. Not only would it cut into profits, but it would also leave the sales team without any commission from the transaction.
“You have three minutes to get the permission,” Lu Jinhu snapped coldly. “Otherwise, you know what will happen. There will be no further warnings.”
“Yes, Sir,” Manager Yong replied reluctantly.
Barely thirty seconds passed before Hou Yi’s phone buzzed. After a brief conversation, he responded calmly, “Tell them, as a one-time exception, they will receive a total discount of thirty-five percent on today’s purchases. I’ll ensure the staff won’t lose out. As for the necklace, she can have a simple gold chain—no pendant—at no cost. I’ll personally cover it.” With that, he ended the call.
Anna glanced at him, confused but intrigued, while Manager Yong’s voice filtered through the slightly ajar door. “Mr. and Madam Lu, a total one-off discount of thirty-five percent has been approved by the owner for your inconvenience in not having the first VIP room available. Additionally, it has been authorized for you to receive a simple gold chain, no pendants, free of charge.”
A high-pitched squeal of delight erupted—unmistakably Yang Lin. Lu Jinhu’s smug response followed. “Good. We’ll use the second VIP room on that basis. And remember, this discount should apply to us from now on. You’ve set the precedent.”
Anna turned to Hou Yi, suspicion flickering in her eyes. “What’s your connection to this store?”
Hou Yi sighed, meeting her gaze. “Fengs has been in my family for generations. Various relatives hold shares, but by tradition, the CEO of Hou Enterprises is considered the owner. Only Manager Yong knows my connection, and I’ve made it clear that I don’t want anyone else to know I’m here.”
Anna’s mouth opened slightly in surprise as he continued. “Yang Lin, however, knows about the family connection. She’s been exploiting it to demand massive discounts and free items from the staff. They’ve kept quiet about her behavior, but now that I’m aware, I’ll put an end to it. And it’s something we might be able to leverage against them when the time comes.”
He leaned forward, his voice firm. “I’ll instruct the staff that she’s to receive no further discounts without my explicit approval, regardless of her threats. We were never going to move from this room for that spoiled little witch just because she demanded it. The fact that someone was already using this room should have been explanation enough for her to accept another one.
“Besides,” he added, a slight smile tugging at his lips, “all the VIP rooms are identical. The only differences are their numbers and locations within the building. That’s it.”
Anna shook her head, still processing everything. “I can’t believe it,” she muttered.
