Melbourne and Sunday Planning
Saturday, continued…
The private flight carrying Hou Yi and Anna Jones arrived at Tullamarine Airport just after lunch on a cold Saturday afternoon.
Their transfer into the heart of Melbourne was swift, given that they had completed immigration procedures in Darwin. Within 35 minutes, they reached their hotel in Southbank and were quickly escorted to their suite. The bodyguards were assigned a suite across the corridor.
Once they were alone, Hou Yi turned to Anna. “I have to apologize. Normally, we would have a suite much larger than this, but due to the short notice, we had to take what we could.”
“Yi, it’s fine,” Anna said with a smile. “This is probably the largest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. We have a dining/lounge area, a separate bedroom with an ensuite, a study, and a powder room. It’s bigger than some apartments in this town.”
Hou Yi seemed relieved. “Are you sure you’re okay with this? What do you want to do for the rest of the weekend?”
Anna glanced at the newspaper on the table and noticed the AFL (Australian Rules Football) game in town—Hawthorn vs. Geelong at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). “Actually, Yi, could we go to the AFL game tonight at the MCG? I haven’t been able to attend a game for five weeks, and I really want to go.”
Hou Yi paused, considering the request. “Anna, there’s no time to arrange a private box, and the bodyguards couldn’t guarantee our safety in the public area. How about we do something else—dinner and a show or maybe a movie?”
Anna gave him a pleading look. “Yi, I really want to go to this game. No one will know we’re there, and I think being in the public area will be safe enough. If you’re still worried, why not contact the MCC (Melbourne Cricket Club) or the AFL to get tickets for a more restricted area? Come on, please—pretty please?”
Hou Yi let out a soft sigh, clearly giving in. “If the bodyguards and I think it’s safe, we’ll go. As for tomorrow, does Warrnambool have an airport?”
“Yes, Warrnambool has an airport,” Anna replied with a smile. “I’ll call the pilot and see if he can fly us there.”
