Offer to the CEO

Meanwhile at the Lu’s

Wednesday, continued…

Yang Lin stormed into the house she and Lu Jinhu were temporarily staying in.

“What happened?” Lu Jinhu asked, noticing her furious expression.

“I can’t believe it,” Yang Lin snapped. “I went to M Mall, and they refused to give me the VIP room I demanded. They know I only settle for the best, and they refused to move the person who had my room. I’ll find out who it was, and that woman better watch out. No one denies me what I deserve, and I’ll make her pay for this.”

“Lin, calm down,” Lu Jinhu said, his voice laced with concern. “You’re pregnant. You need to think about your health.”

“I won’t calm down! This is just the latest insult. Yesterday, we had to deal with that woman you manipulated in Australia. Playing along just to get what we wanted for so many years—it’s been exhausting. We could only be together when you were back, so she wouldn’t suspect anything. The satisfaction I got from what we did at the Civil Administration Bureau and the hotel… it’s still not enough.”

“We failed to get her laptop, to access her company’s programs and take the money Hou Enterprises has with them. If we’d gotten that, we could’ve destroyed her completely. It’s unfair! That hotel manager should pay for not securing that laptop for us.”

“Lin…”

“Then, there was that humiliation at Feng’s. Why was I placed in the second VIP room? I deserve the best, and the first VIP room is the best. That manager was an idiot; he should know better. I’ll get him and his useless staff fired for denying me what’s rightfully mine. I need to find a way to get back at them for this humiliation.”

“The problem is Hou Yi,” Lu Jinhu said slowly. “He knows about us. And I had no idea that he controls Feng’s. I thought he was just some distant relative. Maybe I can work on someone else in the family to have those incompetent staff members dismissed for their treatment of you.”

“And then there’s the matter of the rings,” Yang Lin continued, seething. “I was denied the set I deserved. If Hou Yi hadn’t been there, the staff would have given me what I wanted. That pink diamond set was supposed to be a one-time release, and I should’ve been the one to have it. The people who got my rings and were in my VIP room—they better watch out. When I find out who they are, I’ll make them regret it. Am I not entitled to the best, to what I want?”

“Yes, Lin, you are,” Lu Jinhu agreed, his voice unwavering.

“And now I’m being told I can’t get more discounts at Feng’s?” Yang Lin’s anger flared. “They’ve given me discounts before, but now they refuse? This is unacceptable. They can’t just take that away from me.”

“Lin, please, calm down,” Lu Jinhu urged, his frustration now mirroring hers. “I’m angry too. Not getting that laptop was a big blow, and then the humiliation at Feng’s. And now M Mall has disrespected you, giving you the wrong room. We have to make them pay.”

Lu Jinhu paused, gathering his thoughts, before he reluctantly spoke again. Their plan to have Yang Lin’s second cousin, a senior immigration official, detain the woman they’d targeted and search her luggage had backfired.

Taking a deep breath, Lu Jinhu finally said, “I’m sorry, Lin, it gets worse. I just got word that that woman wasn’t on the flight we had arranged for her. Your second cousin couldn’t retrieve the laptop for us.”

“What the hell?!” Yang Lin’s voice rose to a screech. “That woman—where is she? She must be found! We need that laptop, and now she…”
