Let Me Stay The Night 1-100

Chapter 57 What Are You Smiling For

As Christina walked away from Xandra, her heart raced, but she kept her composure. The tension between them was palpable, and she could feel the animosity thick in the air. She had always known that Xandra would never be friendly, especially given their past encounters. However, this was the first time they had clashed head-on in such a direct confrontation.

She entered the main area of the set, breathing a sigh of relief, but the anger from their exchange still lingered in her mind. It was clear that Xandra wasn’t going to let this go, and Christina knew that things were only going to escalate from here. But Christina wasn’t one to back down from a challenge. If anything, Xandra’s attempt to belittle her only made her more determined to prove herself.

As Christina moved toward the back of the set to check on the rest of the wardrobe arrangements, she couldn’t help but replay the earlier exchange in her head. She had been confident, calm, and unbothered, but beneath it all, she was starting to feel the weight of the rivalry between her and Xandra.

“Christina, are you okay?” one of her coworkers, Sarah, asked, noticing the tense look on her face.

Christina forced a smile, trying to shake off the discomfort. “I’m fine. Just… a little annoyed. But nothing I can’t handle.”

Sarah raised an eyebrow but didn’t press further. She knew Christina well enough to understand that when she said she was fine, it was often an understatement. The two continued working, but Christina’s thoughts kept drifting back to Xandra.

Later that evening, when the set had quieted down and the actors had wrapped up for the day, Christina found a quiet corner to sit and gather her thoughts. She pulled out her phone and dialed Nathaniel’s number, hoping that hearing his voice would help clear her mind.

“Hey, how’s it going?” Nathaniel’s voice came through, warm and steady as always.

“I’m fine, just a little stressed out,” Christina admitted, sinking into the chair. “Today was… eventful.”

“Tell me about it,” he said, his tone shifting to one of concern. “What happened?”

Christina sighed, recounting the tense moments with Xandra and the way the actress had provoked her. As she spoke, Nathaniel’s silence on the other end spoke volumes. He was listening carefully, processing everything she said.

“I’m not going to let her get to me,” Christina added, her determination returning. “But I think I should be prepared for more of this. She’s not going to back down, and neither will I.”

Nathaniel’s voice softened with reassurance. “You don’t have to deal with this alone. I’ve got your back, Christina. Whatever happens, just remember that.”

Hearing his words gave Christina a sense of comfort, and for a moment, the weight of everything seemed to lift. She wasn’t in this fight alone. Nathaniel would always be there, just as he had been when things had been tough before.

“Thanks, Nathaniel,” she said, her voice softening. “That means more to me than you know.”

“Anytime. Now, get some rest. Tomorrow’s a big day,” he replied with a chuckle.

Christina smiled, feeling a wave of warmth spread through her chest. “I will. Goodnight.”

As she ended the call, she leaned back in her chair, letting the quiet of the evening wash over her. The challenges ahead were uncertain, but with Nathaniel by her side and her own determination, Christina was ready to face whatever came her way.

The next day, as she arrived at the set, she steeled herself for whatever Xandra would throw her way. She knew the actress wouldn’t let the previous day’s confrontation go easily, but Christina was no stranger to challenges. She wasn’t about to let anyone undermine her.

And if Xandra wanted to escalate things, well, Christina was more than prepared to handle it.
