Chapter 62
Christina was overwhelmed with a mixture of confusion and anger after seeing the viral video. The video had been edited to make it look like she had an argument with Xandra about Nathaniel, turning the entire situation into a twisted narrative. The comments on social media were ruthless, calling her a “mistress” and a “home-wrecker.” The hurtful words pierced deep into her heart, but the worst part was that people were willing to believe these fabricated lies without knowing the truth.
As she stood there, her phone buzzing incessantly with calls and messages from people she didn’t want to hear from right now, she felt a crushing sense of isolation. The public had already made their judgment, and she was left to deal with the fallout.
Gina’s call was the wake-up call she needed. “Christina, there are many people at the film set who want to confront you. You must not come here. I’ve arranged a car for you, so hurry back to downtown first!” Gina’s voice was urgent, protective even.
Christina didn’t hesitate. She grabbed her things quickly, her mind racing, her heart pounding. The reality of what was happening hit her like a tidal wave. She had been accused of things she hadn’t done, and now she was being forced to leave the only place she had felt somewhat at home. She didn’t want to run away, but she had no choice.
On the way to downtown, as the car sped through the streets, Christina couldn’t shake the image of Patty—her innocent little cat—being taken away. Xandra’s cruelty had crossed a line that Christina could never forgive, and now her own reputation was at stake. All the hard work she had put into this job, all the relationships she had tried to nurture, were being destroyed in a matter of hours.
Once back in the city, she couldn’t bring herself to go home just yet. Instead, she went to a quiet café, one that she used to frequent when she needed a break from everything. Sitting in a secluded corner, she tried to collect her thoughts. Her hands trembled as she scrolled through her phone, reading the comments, the accusations, and the hatred being thrown her way.
She knew she couldn’t just let it slide. Xandra had intentionally set her up, and the lies were spreading faster than she could fix them. Christina was not going to let this be her story, but she needed a plan.
The question was: How could she clear her name when everything seemed stacked against her? And how could she deal with the pain of knowing that even those who claimed to be her friends might be turning their backs on her?
