Chapter 60 Change Of Tone
Xandra’s frustration boiled over as she fought to keep her composure in front of the crew. Her scratching only seemed to make the situation worse, and she could feel the stares of the onlookers growing more intense. The murmurs swirled around her, and it only deepened her humiliation.
“What’s going on, Xandra? Are you alright?” Anna asked, her voice full of concern but tinged with amusement.
Xandra quickly straightened herself, trying to mask her discomfort with a forced smile. “I’m fine. Just a little allergic reaction, that’s all.”
But her words fell flat. The red patch on her cheek was a telltale sign, and she could see the others exchanging glances, some trying to hide their amusement. Xandra clenched her fists, her mind racing. Christina had to be behind this. It was the only explanation.
The director, who was already under stress from the delays, sighed heavily. “We can’t keep stopping the shoot. Just get it covered up, Xandra. We’re on a tight schedule.”
The makeup artist quickly came over, trying to apply some foundation to cover the rash, but it was clear that the redness was not going away. It was spreading, a small patch of redness turning into an uncomfortable blotch.
Xandra gritted her teeth as she shot a glare toward Christina, who was standing near the back of the room, watching the scene unfold with a cool, detached expression. Christina’s gaze never wavered, and Xandra knew deep down that the calm look in her eyes meant she had orchestrated this moment.
Xandra’s assistant, who had been standing quietly in the background, approached her nervously. “Should I… should I do something, Xandra?”
Xandra’s eyes narrowed. “No. Just stay out of it. And keep your mouth shut.” She didn’t want anyone else getting involved, especially not when she was already on the edge of losing control.
Her frustration was palpable. The red mark on her cheek was no longer the only thing bothering her. It was the knowledge that Christina had outsmarted her, and it was eating away at her. Xandra had tried to humiliate Christina before, but it was clear that she was now the one being humiliated.
As she continued to scratch and fidget, she noticed Nathaniel finally glance up from his documents. His eyes met hers briefly, but he didn’t show any particular interest. He looked at her for only a moment before returning to his paperwork.
Xandra’s heart sank. Even though she tried to flirt with him earlier, trying to remind him of their connection, it had been completely ignored. Christina, however, seemed to have his full attention when she was around, and that realization was like a slap in the face.
Suddenly, the itchy sensation intensified. Xandra couldn’t take it anymore and hastily excused herself, leaving the set to find a private space where she could deal with the irritation without further embarrassment.
As soon as she entered her dressing room, she slammed the door behind her, her breath coming out in sharp bursts. Her assistant followed quickly, unsure of what to say or do. Xandra let out a frustrated growl, pacing the room.
“Christina,” she hissed through gritted teeth. “She did this on purpose. I know it.”
Her assistant didn’t reply, but the fear in her eyes was evident. She had seen Xandra at her worst before, but there was something different about this time. The hatred in Xandra’s eyes was palpable, and the assistant knew this would not end quietly.
Xandra could feel her anger building, a storm raging within her. She couldn’t let Christina get away with this. Whatever it took, she would make sure Christina paid for what had just happened.
But for now, all she could do was sit and fume, knowing that her plan to humiliate Christina had backfired spectacularly.
Meanwhile, Christina, blissfully unaware of the storm brewing in Xandra’s mind, continued with her work, her calm demeanor unshaken. She had handled everything with quiet grace, knowing that she had more than just skills in styling; she had a knack for navigating the volatile world of the entertainment industry. And today, she had won a small, but significant victory.
