Chapter 58 Kill Two Birds With One Stone
Christina sat in her hotel room, her mind replaying the events of the evening. The unexpected turn of events had been both satisfying and amusing. The moment the cake had arrived, all of Xandra’s theatrics had backfired spectacularly. It was an unusual yet gratifying moment—especially when the whole crew had learned the truth about who Nathaniel’s girlfriend really was.
She picked up her phone and dialed Nathaniel’s number, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips as the call connected. The sound of his voice immediately calmed her, and she couldn’t help but feel a warmth in her chest.
“Hey,” Nathaniel’s voice came through, familiar and soothing.
“Hi,” Christina replied, her tone light despite the drama of the day. “I just wanted to thank you for the cake. It definitely turned the tables tonight.”
Nathaniel chuckled, a sound she had come to adore. “I thought you might enjoy that. Xandra seemed pretty confident about her place, but I figured it was time for a little reminder.”
Christina laughed softly, reclining on the bed as she let the tension of the day slip away. “You definitely made your point. I’m sure she didn’t expect that.”
“Xandra can be pretty calculating, but I know you can handle her,” Nathaniel said, his tone laced with admiration.
“I can,” Christina agreed, her smile widening. “But I didn’t expect her to put on such a show. She really thought she was going to be the center of attention tonight.”
“Honestly, I think she wanted to rub it in,” Nathaniel said, his voice a bit more serious. “But you handled it with grace. I’m proud of you.”
Christina felt a flutter in her chest at his words. It wasn’t often that Nathaniel expressed such praise, and she appreciated it more than she could put into words.
“I’m just doing what I do best,” she replied, her tone playful but sincere. “But I’ll admit, tonight was a bit of a surprise.”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it. You deserve to be treated well, Christina,” Nathaniel said, his voice softening.
Christina’s heart skipped a beat, the sincerity in his words not lost on her. “Thank you. You always know how to make things better.”
There was a brief silence before Nathaniel spoke again. “I’ll be here when you get back. Maybe we can celebrate with something a little more private.”
Christina smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her. “I look forward to it. But for now, I think I’ll rest. It’s been a long day.”
“Get some sleep, then. I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Goodnight, Nathaniel,” Christina said, before ending the call and settling back into the pillows. The events of the day had been emotionally charged, but now, she could finally relax.
As she drifted off to sleep, a sense of peace settled over her. She had handled herself with strength, and Nathaniel’s support had made everything a little easier. Despite the challenges ahead, Christina knew she could face them with him by her side.
The next morning, as the crew prepared for another day of shooting, Christina felt a renewed sense of determination. Xandra might try to cause more trouble, but Christina was more than ready for whatever came next. She had already proven that she could stand her ground, and she wasn’t about to let anyone—especially Xandra—push her around.
