Let Me Stay The Night 1-100

Chapter 71 A Total Fail

Christina quickly steadied herself, her heart racing for a moment as she looked up to meet the figure in front of her. To her surprise, it was none other than Nathaniel. His sharp eyes softened as he caught her before she could fully regain her balance.

“Careful,” Nathaniel murmured, his voice low with concern. He helped her steady herself, his hand resting lightly on her arm.

Christina blinked, still a little dazed from the collision. “I didn’t expect to bump into you here,” she said, trying to regain her composure.

Nathaniel smiled faintly, his gaze lingering on her for a second longer than usual. “I could say the same. I just got off a call, and I was heading your way. Seems like fate had other plans,” he said, his tone playful yet genuine.

Christina chuckled, appreciating the ease in his words. “I guess so,” she replied, a little embarrassed by the awkwardness of the moment.

Nathaniel glanced down at the heavy bag she was holding, noticing the grocery items she had purchased. “Let me help you with that,” he offered, reaching for the bag.

It was a simple gesture, but it felt surprisingly thoughtful. Christina hesitated for a moment, then smiled and handed the bag over. “Thank you.”

As they walked side by side, the air between them felt comfortable, even as their steps matched in sync. Nathaniel casually mentioned, “I’ve been meaning to catch up with you. How’s everything at work? Settling in okay?”

Christina nodded, her mind briefly drifting to the events of the day—her interaction with the sales team, the challenges she had faced, and her plans for improvement. “It’s been… a lot, but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. The team is adjusting, though it’s going to take some time,” she said with a thoughtful smile.

Nathaniel gave a slight nod of understanding. “I’m sure you’ll do great. You seem to have a knack for handling people,” he added, his voice warm with genuine admiration.

Christina’s lips curved into a smile at his words. “Thank you. I hope I can live up to everyone’s expectations,” she replied modestly, though a flicker of determination sparked in her eyes.

They reached the entrance of her building, and Nathaniel paused. “I’ll leave you to it, then. Just wanted to make sure you were okay after the little mishap.”

Christina was touched by his concern. “I’m fine, really. Thanks for walking me back.” She smiled at him, feeling a sense of ease despite the whirlwind of the day.

As she turned to head inside, Nathaniel called out, his voice a bit more serious this time. “Christina, if you ever need help with anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”

She glanced back at him, catching the sincerity in his expression. “I will,” she said softly, her smile lingering as she entered the building.

Nathaniel stood there for a moment, watching her disappear inside. The interaction had been brief, but it left a warmth in him. There was something about Christina that drew him in—her strength, her grace under pressure, and the way she made everything seem effortless.

As he turned to leave, he couldn’t shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something much bigger than either of them could imagine.
