Chapter 59 Go Back To The Hotel
The next morning, Christina woke up feeling the lingering warmth of Nathaniel’s care. Her knees were still sore, but the tenderness of his touch had made her feel safe and cared for in a way that she hadn’t expected. It was a strange but comforting feeling, and as she got dressed and prepared for the day ahead, a quiet smile tugged at her lips.
When she arrived at the set, she was met with the usual bustle of activity, the crew preparing for another day of filming. However, Xandra was nowhere to be seen initially. Christina couldn’t help but feel a sense of quiet victory. After all the drama of the past few days, she had a new sense of strength and resolve.
As Christina sat down, checking through her schedule and ensuring everything was in order, Anna walked over to her, concern painted on her face.
“Are you okay?” Anna asked quietly, her voice soft enough to avoid attention from the rest of the crew.
Christina nodded, though her smile was tinged with exhaustion. “I’m fine. Just a little sore, but it’s nothing. Nathaniel made sure I was taken care of.”
Anna’s eyebrows raised slightly. “Nathaniel? As in, that Nathaniel Hadley? You two are really something, aren’t you?”
Christina chuckled softly, adjusting her hair and avoiding her friend’s gaze. “I guess so.”
Before Anna could press further, Xandra strutted onto the set, a smug expression painted across her face. She wasted no time in walking directly over to Christina, her presence demanding attention.
“Well, well, look who showed up,” Xandra said, her voice dripping with mock sweetness. “I’m surprised you even made it here, considering how you were left behind last night.”
The words were sharp, meant to wound. Xandra was trying to regain her dominance after the cake incident, but Christina remained calm, unfazed by the jab. She had learned long ago not to rise to Xandra’s provocations.
Christina didn’t even bother to look at Xandra directly as she responded, her tone cool and collected. “I’m fine. I don’t know what you’re referring to, but I’m here, aren’t I?”
Xandra’s eyes narrowed, clearly displeased with Christina’s lack of reaction. “Of course, you’re here,” she sneered, her gaze flicking to Anna, who had started to notice the tension between them. “It’s not surprising for someone like you. I wonder if the crew will still treat you with the same respect once they find out you were left behind last night.”
Christina felt the gaze of the crew on her, but she didn’t flinch. Instead, she let a small, knowing smile creep onto her lips as she stood up, her voice steady but filled with an undeniable edge.
“Maybe you should ask the director about that,” she said casually, her eyes flicking over to where the director was standing. “He seems to be the one who made sure I was taken care of last night. You should’ve seen how concerned everyone was when I wasn’t around.”
Anna watched the scene unfold in silence, but her lips curled into a smile. She knew Xandra had just been outsmarted, and Christina had handled her beautifully.
Xandra’s face flushed with rage, but she said nothing more, her lips pressed into a tight line. The sting of humiliation from last night was still fresh, and she could do nothing but glare at Christina before turning away.
As Xandra stormed off, the crew resumed their work, the moment of tension dissipating into the buzz of the set. Christina, unfazed, simply returned to her tasks, her focus sharp and undeterred. She had proven herself once again, both in her work and in how she handled Xandra’s petty provocations.
It was clear now—Christina wasn’t just here to be a bystander. She was here to stay, and no amount of manipulation or games from someone like Xandra would change that.
