Leaving While Pregnant:He Goes Crazy

Chapter 56

Marcus played with Cordelia’s long hair, a soft smile on his face as he noticed she seemed a little down. “What’s the matter?”

Cordelia sighed and gave a dry chuckle. “I don’t have any good ideas for revenge at the moment,” she said softly. “I don’t want this to get out because it’s not exactly something to be proud of. People like them can go on with their lives as if nothing happened, but I can’t do anything to them.”

She paused and continued, “All I can do is pretend it never happened and endure until I’m strong enough to make them pay for what they did.”

Marcus chuckled lightly as he watched her. He admired her strength. Cordelia wasn’t a pushover. She was tough, clear about what she loved and hated, resilient, and patient. When she had a grudge, she would avenge it, and she had the ability to stay calm and handle herself in a crisis. She had the courage to risk everything. She reminded him of himself in many ways.

A smile tugged at the corners of Marcus’ lips as he thought about it. This was the kind of woman he wanted by his side!

Since he’d been betrayed, he had kept a low profile, even changing his identity to live in Jangasas, all in order to one day defeat Matthew and his people. He could be patient, but he hated seeing his woman suffer.

“Darling, question,” he said with a playful chuckle. “If you had superpowers, how would you take care of those who harmed you?”

Cordelia widened her eyes, confused. “What?”

“We’re just chatting,” Marcus said, his eyes glinting. “Let your imagination run wild. How would you punish them?”

Cordelia blinked and smiled innocently. “It’s not really punishment. I just want them to get what they deserve. I want them to experience everything I went through, and I never want them to appear before me again.”

Marcus nodded with a smirk and whispered in her ear, “Got it.”

“What did you say?” she asked, curious.

“Nothing,” he replied, helping her lie back down. “You must be tired. Have a good sleep. I’ll get you some congee.”

As Cordelia fell back to sleep, Marcus quietly slipped out of the hospital ward.

Outside, Josiah stood apologetically, limping with a crutch, his head wrapped in bandages like a dumpling. Fredric stood by his side, supporting him. They had been waiting there for some time.

Marcus glared at Josiah with a heated gaze.

“Z, I-I’m really sorry…” Josiah winced. “But I swear, if I had any bad intentions toward Cordelia that night, I’ll get run over by a car!”

“You’ve already been hit by a car,” Marcus said coldly. “You’re lucky it didn’t kill you.”

Josiah froze and let out a nervous chuckle. “Z, I wanted to send sis-in-law back that night, but I had to put on an act in front of those two scums, right? What if—”

“You don’t have to explain. I understand,” Marcus interrupted with an icy tone.

Matthew could send someone to harm him at any time. Jangasas was no longer safe. He needed to be cautious in everything. The fewer people who knew about him and Cordelia, the better.

“You heard what she told me just now?” Marcus asked.

Josiah was startled, while Fredric immediately asked, “About punishing Michael and Jesse?”

Marcus nodded, his expression serious.

Fredric grimaced. “Z, are we really going to do what she wishes?”

“What else?” Marcus’ gaze sharpened, his voice rising. “Should I do it myself instead?”

“We’ll do it! Of course, we’ll do it!” Josiah jumped at the chance to redeem himself. “Whoever sis-in-law doesn’t want to see will never appear in front of her again!”

Marcus gave a low hum and turned, heading out to buy congee, his hands clasped behind his back.

Fredric looked at Josiah, speechless.

“Say… Will Z still be able to go back to…”
