Chapter 67
Marcus squinted, adjusting his position to get comfortable, then looked at Cordelia with a smile. “First, don’t pressure yourself too much. I’m not the type who needs to get rich. As long as we’re making ends meet, it doesn’t matter how much we make. What’s important is that you’re happy at work, understand?” He nodded seriously, reinforcing his words.
“Second, don’t do anything dangerous,” Cordelia pressed her lips together. “I’m talking about your contests and things. Don’t push yourself too hard. We don’t need those cash prizes! I can only support you 100% as long as you’re safe!”
“Third…” She hesitated for a moment before looking up at him and softly saying, “If you have female students, you can’t let them feel your muscles!”
Marcus couldn’t hold back anymore and burst out laughing. Cordelia’s face turned as red as an apple, and she buried her head in his chest, punching him twice.
“I mean it!” she protested. “I’m a woman, so I know what the other women think! I… I forbid others from touching you, anyway! Normal physical contact is fine, but anything crossing the line… no way! If you don’t agree, I won’t let you go to work! Stay home and don’t go anywhere!”
Cordelia looked unusually adorable, trying to act fierce. Marcus was suddenly filled with affection for her. He hugged her tightly and whispered seriously next to her ear, “Okay. I’ll listen to everything you say.”
Cordelia finally relaxed, grinning as she fell asleep in his arms. She even had an interesting dream.
…
The next day, it was the weekend, so Cordelia decided to go shopping, hooking arms with Marcus. Marcus had never been particularly interested in shopping, but the girl insisted on buying him some fitted clothes. After a while, they settled on a luxury brand for menswear, and Cordelia excitedly pulled him toward the store.
Despite Marcus repeatedly emphasizing that his job was as a boxing instructor, Cordelia insisted that he try on a tailor-made suit. “Even if you’re an instructor, you could use a suit too!” she said seriously, chuckling. “The suit looks great, and it’s free to try on. Put it on for me!”
Unable to stop her, Marcus finally relented and went to the fitting room with the suit. When he came out, Cordelia’s eyes widened. She had only ever seen him in T-shirts, jeans, or sportswear. This was the first time she’d seen him dressed so formally, and she didn’t expect him to look so handsome in a suit.
Marcus, slightly over six feet tall, was well-built with almost perfect proportions. He was practically a walking mannequin. The suit fit him perfectly, accentuating his figure and making him look even more handsome.
Cordelia felt the fabric and noticed the high-quality craftsmanship. Marcus looked fantastic in it, but when she saw the price tag, her heart jolted. Despite her initial reaction, she smiled at the sales assistant and told them she wanted to buy the suit.
Her subtle change in expression didn’t escape Marcus’ notice. A rush of emotion stirred within him. The suits he used to wear were limited haute couture from top international designers, made specifically for him. Thousand-dollar suits like this were nothing more than cheap items to him.
He didn’t want Cordelia to spend unnecessarily, but he couldn’t bring himself to dampen her excitement. Her bright smile softened his gaze.
“Honey, do you like it?” Cordelia asked, flying back to him after she paid. “You look so handsome in it! I’m getting you shirts and some nice long ties next time, then—”
She suddenly stopped speaking and froze.
