Leaving While Pregnant:He Goes Crazy

Chapter 82

“They’re lying!” Cordelia slammed her hand down on the table, her body shaking with rage. “I didn’t do it! I was framed! It must be Karine! Tell her to come out and confront me!”

“Keep your voice down!” The interrogator slammed his hand on the table, his voice echoing through the room. “Where do you think you are? How dare you shout like that?”

“I’ll never admit to something I didn’t do!”

Cordelia’s hands and feet grew cold. She bit her lip, trying desperately to calm herself down. “I wrote the marketing proposal. I kept a softcopy on the computer and a hardcopy in the drawer, but I don’t know how the rival company got their hands on it. I’m sure there’s a mole in my company, and that person must have stolen the document. I want my company to check all the security footage. Anyone who entered or left my office is a suspect!”

“Ms. Jenner, you’re a sales director. It’s normal for your staff to go in and out of your office. Besides, you can’t just treat everyone as a suspect based on the security footage alone!”

“Then you shouldn’t accuse me of selling my company’s proprietary secrets just because they said so!”

The interrogator’s eyes widened in anger, but before he could speak, a deep voice came through his earpiece.

“Her mother is mentally ill, her brother is underage, and she has a husband, but we can’t find him. However, her husband has a criminal record, so we could use that as leverage.”

“Okay, I’ll try,” the interrogator replied, turning off his earpiece.

He rose to his feet and said coldly, “Ms. Jenner, even if you don’t care about yourself, what about your husband? He’s a convicted criminal. Do you want your life to be tainted like his? Don’t you want to start over, free from his shadow?”

Fredric rushed out of the police station and made his way toward Marcus’s house, his face tight with urgency.

“What happened?” Marcus asked, his voice dark with frustration. “Who did this?”

“Calm down and listen to me.” Fredric took a deep breath before continuing. “It seems like Karine has colluded with Bowfest Foreign Trading’s rival company to frame Cordelia. Everyone is saying she exposed their proprietary secrets, and all the evidence points to her. I’ve checked the security footage, but a part of it is missing. I think that’s where Karine took the proposal.”

“D*mn it!” Marcus shouted through gritted teeth and punched the wall.

Though he had been in Chaiseland, he contacted Cordelia daily through texts and calls, trying to make sure she was alright. But two days ago, he had suddenly been unable to reach her. He realized then that she must have been taken by the police, and they likely confiscated her phone. He cursed himself for not returning sooner to face this with her.

“Cordelia was interrogated for an entire night,” Fredric continued. “The interrogator even mentioned your criminal record. Z, you shouldn’t show yourself at the police station. If you attract too much attention, they might start suspecting your identity. I’m sure people are watching Matthew now.”

“But don’t worry. I’ll handle it. I’ll bail out Cordelia, and then we can figure out how to win the lawsuit. What do you think?”

Marcus’s face darkened, but a glimmer of determination flashed in his eyes. After a brief silence, he stood up abruptly and headed for the door.

“Where are you going, Z?” Fredric asked.

“I want to go see her,” Marcus replied.

‘I need to be by her side now!’

Fredric blinked, momentarily stunned, but quickly realized what Marcus was planning. He hurried to follow him.
