Leaving While Pregnant:He Goes Crazy

Chapter 86

The company had been undergoing massive changes for the past week. The constant flow of people in and out, the reshuffling of departments, and the shifting of roles created a chaotic atmosphere. Some employees had left the company, heads hung low, while others were either promoted or demoted in the wake of these upheavals. The higher-ups of both companies fought fiercely for their personal gain, each trying to secure the benefits they desired. The office had transformed into a battlefield, with sacrifices made and victories won in the scramble for power.

Employees, busy with the task of cleaning their new office spaces and adjusting to their new roles, were startled when an angry, shrill voice pierced the calm.

“What!?”

The office fell silent, and heads turned in the direction of the commotion.

The voice had come from the director’s office, and Karine’s face was twisted with fury as she shouted, “I’ve worked so hard for this company for years! I’ve brought in so much revenue, and now you want to fire me!?”

The director calmly glanced at her and placed a cup of coffee on the desk in front of her. “Calm down. This is a decision made by the higher-ups. There’s nothing I can do about it.”

“Higher-ups?” Karine scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Who are they? I’ll find them one by one!”

David, standing nearby, frowned. “Know your place, Karine. Do you still think your uncle is one of the shareholders? Do you really believe you can do whatever you want here?”

Karine’s eyes flashed with anger. “You—”

David cut her off, his voice firm. “Do you think I don’t know who’s behind this? You were the one who colluded with the other company to frame Cordelia, weren’t you?”

Karine froze, her face paling as she stared at David.

“I’ve never seen you work so hard, but it’s only for petty schemes like this!” David continued, his voice filled with disdain. “Let me make something clear. Even if you go looking for those higher-ups, it won’t matter. Half of the board has been replaced, and once the two companies merge, many people will lose their jobs. I’m already lucky I’m not one of them.”

He gave her a cold look. “As for you, just follow the orders you’ve been given and never show your face in this company again.”

With a scream of rage, Karine began to throw objects around the office, her fury unleashed as she destroyed everything in her path.

“Are you insane!?” David yelled, taking a step forward to grab her wrist and throw her aside. “Stop acting like a crazy b*tch, Karine!”

Karine crashed against the wall, regaining her composure. Her eyes were blank as she looked at David, who stood seething with anger. She no longer dared to make a move.

David tugged at his tie, frustration written across his face. “Karine, you should’ve expected this the moment you started bullying everyone in this company.”

“This is all Cordelia’s fault!” Karine snarled, grinding her teeth. “That b*tch!”

David’s eyes narrowed. “Enough!” he snapped.

They were still in his office, and if anyone heard what Karine had just called Cordelia, it could cause a lot of problems. He was already in hot water as it was, especially with the company merger underway. Josiah and Fredric had both shown up, and David couldn’t help but wonder what kind of power was behind the scenes. It seemed that Cordelia’s connections were far more formidable than he had ever imagined.

The merger of two companies was no simple feat, and the speed at which it had been executed pointed to a powerful external influence. Josiah and Fredric’s involvement made it even clearer that there was something much bigger at play than anyone had realized.

David’s thoughts turned cold as a realization struck him. He had once assumed Cordelia’s connection was with Josiah, but now he wondered if her backer was even more powerful than Josiah himself.

Snapping back to reality, David shot Karine a warning look. “Watch your words. If you offend the wrong person, you could end up like your uncle—no better than a nobody in a small town.”

The tension in the room was thick as Karine stood silently, her anger simmering beneath the surface.
