Chapter 30

Alana followed Abel into the room, her voice soft and gentle. “Abel, let me fill the bathtub for you. You’ve had a tough time, and perhaps relaxing will help. Maybe Timmy will be back tomorrow.”

Abel nodded wearily, his voice heavy with concern. “I’ve prepared everything, including the money. I’m just waiting for them to return Timmy safely.”

Alana smiled reassuringly, though there was a subtle edge to her words. “Timmy will be fine, I’m sure of it.”

As she spoke, she took a step closer, her hands moving toward his tie. To her surprise, Abel didn’t stop her. His mind was clearly elsewhere, preoccupied with the situation at hand, and his resistance was momentarily forgotten.

Alana felt a wave of triumph as she led him to the bathroom, her movements quick and purposeful. She filled the bathtub with warm water, adding a special blend of calming herbs, knowing it would help ease tension. The fragrance was subtle, a mixture designed to relax the mind and body.

Abel stepped into the tub, his muscles loosening as the heat of the water enveloped him. For a moment, his body relaxed, but his thoughts remained consumed with worry for Timmy. Despite the calming water, his mind continued to race, unable to escape the weight of his responsibilities and the fear of losing his son.

He closed his eyes, trying to focus, but strange thoughts began to cloud his mind. His visions blurred, and he imagined his son, Timmy, transforming into Helios, Endymion, and then Hesperus. For a moment, it felt as if the triplets were with him in the water, their innocent faces filling his thoughts. The confusion was overwhelming.

Shaking his head, Abel stepped out of the bath. He wrapped a towel around his waist, his mind still fraught with unease. He walked back into the bedroom, where Alana was waiting.

She was standing by the bed, dressed in a soft, comfortable nightdress, her eyes full of concern. Abel couldn’t help but notice how she looked at him, a hint of longing in her gaze. For a brief moment, his body responded to the closeness, but he quickly pushed the thought away, reminding himself of his priorities.

Alana stepped forward, her voice quiet. “Abel, I know this is a difficult time, but we’re in this together. I can help you through it. Don’t shut me out.”

Abel’s jaw tightened as he took a step back. “I need to stay focused. Right now, it’s all about Timmy. We can’t afford to let anything distract us.”

Alana’s expression faltered for a moment, but she quickly masked it with a soft smile. “I understand. But please, if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here.”

Abel nodded, though his mind was already far from the moment. He turned toward the door, his frustration mounting. “I can’t afford to relax. I need to find out who’s behind all this, and I need to do it quickly.”

Alana watched him, a mixture of frustration and determination in her eyes. She wanted to be the one to comfort him, to be the one he turned to, but she knew now was not the time. Still, she couldn’t shake the thought that this was an opportunity—a chance she couldn’t let slip away.
