Chapter 87
The bodyguard didn’t speak but simply opened the ornately carved wooden door behind him.
Alana stepped inside.
The room was vast, its furnishings extravagant and luxurious. But the atmosphere was thick with tension, and Alana didn’t see anyone at first.
As she wondered what was going on, a hand suddenly grabbed her by the neck from behind.
“Ah!” Alana gasped, but the grip around her throat prevented her from making any further sounds.
“Do you know why I let you come in here?” Adam’s low, hoarse voice came from behind.
Alana shuddered, panic flooding her system. She shook her head weakly, her hands desperately trying to pry Adam’s hand from her throat. Her face was turning purple, and her eyes were wide with fear.
“Because I want you to understand the consequences of disturbing me,” Adam sneered.
Alana’s vision began to blur, and she fought to force a sound from her throat, but it was almost impossible.
With a cruel twist, Adam shoved her to the floor.
“Why did you look for me?” he demanded, stepping on her face with his boot.
Alana gasped for air, her body trembling as she clung to the edge of his shoe. She coughed violently, but her voice was barely a whisper. “I need you to help me stop Adrien from going to the hospital.”
Adam’s gaze darkened, his smirk fading. “What do you mean?”
Quickly, Alana explained the situation—the urgency of stopping Adrien from going to the hospital and the potential exposure of the truth.
Adam’s lips twisted into a knowing smile. “So, the triplets belong to Abel.”
“Yes,” Alana said, her voice shaky. “But I can’t let him find out. If he marries Emmeline, it’s over for me.”
Adam chuckled darkly. “How do you want me to help you?”
Alana shifted closer, leaning against Adam’s chest. “I need you to stop Adrien from going to the hospital,” she said softly. “We can’t let the truth come out.”
Adam raised an eyebrow, a glint of amusement in his eyes. “You want the child to die?”
“If he dies, it’s unfortunate,” Alana replied coldly. “But think about this—if they check the boy’s uncles for a match, they’ll find Abel. He’s a bigger threat than you think.”
Adam’s smirk deepened. “So, you want me to make sure Adrien’s bone marrow is compatible. And if not, they’ll look to me. Is that it?”
Alana nodded, her eyes flashing with determination. “Yes. You’re his uncle. You know it makes sense.”
“Not impossible,” Adam agreed. “It’s more believable than Adrien being incompatible.”
“I’ll handle it,” Adam said with a dark grin. “The Imperial Palace is Adrien’s usual spot. I’ll have someone take care of him there.”
Meanwhile, Abel and his bodyguards arrived at the Fragrant Court of the Imperial Palace.
“According to our intel, Adrien is inside,” Luca said, his tone steady.
Without hesitation, Abel kicked open the door.
“Who is it?!” a woman screamed in shock from within.
“I know you’re in there, Adrien! Come out right now!” Abel roared, his fury palpable.
Inside, Adrien was caught in the act, making out with two women. At the sound of Abel’s voice, he froze, momentarily stunned.
“Abel, I’m not interested in being CEO of Ryker Group. Can’t you just leave me alone?” Adrien said, his tone lazy as he turned to face Abel.
“I can leave you alone, but have you ever thought about Emmeline and Hesperus?” Abel shot back, his anger rising.
“Emmeline ignores me. And Hesperus? Isn’t he recovering?” Adrien scoffed, clearly uninterested.
Abel’s expression darkened. “His blood disorder was triggered. He needs your bone marrow to survive.”
There was a long, tense silence before Adrien shot out of the bed, stark naked.
“What did you just say, Abel? Say that again?”
Abel grabbed him by the arm, his grip ironclad. “I’m giving you one minute to get dressed. After that, you’re coming with me to the hospital!”
Adrien shuddered, clearly caught off guard by the urgency. “Yes, yes, I’ll get dressed now!”
The two women, clearly not understanding the gravity of the situation, clung to Adrien and pouted. “But Adrien, didn’t you promise to spend two days and nights with us? We haven’t even hit one day yet!”
