Chapter 78
Abel’s eyes narrowed as he glared at Adrien. “You’re one to talk!” he snapped. He turned to his bodyguards. “Throw those two women out!”
“Yes, Mr. Ryker!” the bodyguards responded in unison.
In a flash, they grabbed the two women and threw them out of the lounge.
Adrien shuddered, clearly unsettled by Abel’s commanding presence. “A—Abel… What do you want?”
Abel’s tone was cold. “You should be asking that yourself. Why are you here flirting with other women?”
Adrien stiffened and quickly retorted, “It’s none of your business!”
“It is now!” Abel roared, his voice thunderous as he stormed toward Adrien and kicked his face.
Adrien barely ducked in time, managing to hide under a nearby table to avoid the kick.
“Hmph! Coward!” Abel sneered.
Adrien was soaked in cold sweat, his mind racing. He knew Abel was only trying to intimidate him. If Abel had wanted to hurt him, he wouldn’t have been able to dodge that kick. According to his grandfather, Abel had become a ruthless machine after five years of secret training. In one second, Abel could go from businessman to killing machine. That was why Oscar had entrusted him with Ryker Group’s reins.
Adrien’s voice trembled as he spoke. “Abel, why are you throwing a tantrum at me so early in the morning? I’m your older brother! You humiliated me in front of those two women!”
Abel scoffed, clearly unimpressed. “You should know why. How are you going to face Emmeline and her children after this?”
Adrien froze, his anger faltering as he realized why Abel was here. Abel had come to seek justice for Emmeline.
Fuming, Adrien sank into a chair. “Now that you mention her, I have to say she’s really stubborn!”
Abel furrowed his brow. “What do you mean?”
“Last night, Emmeline told me she won’t marry me no matter what,” Adrien said with a frustrated sigh. “She told me to give up on her.”
Abel blinked, taken aback. Was that… good news?
He couldn’t help the glimmer of hope that flashed in his eyes, but Adrien quickly noticed and scowled.
“If you want to make a move on Emmeline, you’d better clean up your mess first,” Adrien said, eyes narrowing.
Abel’s expression darkened. He knew exactly what Adrien was referring to—the child in Alana’s womb.
“What a hypocrite!” Adrien rolled his eyes.
Abel had no words to retort. After all, no one would believe him if he said the baby wasn’t his.
“Watch your back,” Abel warned coldly before turning on his heel and leaving the lounge.
Luca and the bodyguards quickly followed behind him. “Mr. Ryker, what about breakfast?”
“Get some for everyone,” Abel replied gruffly, still angry. “And send two portions to the café.”
“Yes, Mr. Ryker,” Luca responded.
Despite his fury, Abel was thoughtful enough not to forget breakfast. It seemed he hadn’t completely lost his sense of consideration, especially toward Ms. Louise.
Luca took a quick count of the bodyguards and ordered twelve portions. Everyone had been up early and was hungry.
After they left Nimbus Hotel, one of the cars went to the café to deliver breakfast, while the rest followed Abel to the hospital.
Abel couldn’t shake the unease he felt. He wanted to visit Hesperus before starting work. For some reason, he felt unsettled if he didn’t.
Why do I care so much about Adrien’s son? Abel thought to himself.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t convince himself not to visit.
He parked the Rolls-Royce in the hospital parking lot and noticed the bodyguard who was supposed to deliver breakfast to the café had already returned.
The bodyguard walked toward him, still holding the breakfast.
Abel stepped out of the car and approached the bodyguard.
“Aren’t you supposed to deliver that?” he asked, clearly annoyed.
