Chapter 42
“Ms. Louise, a crowd of people just showed up! I can’t manage them all!” Sam’s voice echoed from downstairs.
Had the news sparked this frenzy of visitors and entertainment reporters?
Emmeline took a deep breath, adjusted her hair, and calmly made her way downstairs.
The café was packed with people.
As soon as they saw her appear, a sea of phones and cameras shot up.
“Ms. Louise, it seems you’ve returned to Struyria. Do you remember what happened five years ago?”
“I heard you have children now. Do you know who their father is?”
“Ms. Louise, now that you’re back in Struyria, which man are you pursuing? Any hints for us?”
Just as the questions rained down, a voice interrupted.
“I’ll answer these questions!”
Emmeline turned to see Adrien entering the café.
Known as a notorious playboy in Struyria, Adrien was no stranger to the spotlight. With his sudden appearance, the crowd buzzed with excitement. As a wealthy Young Master, news about him was always welcome.
The crowd quickly surrounded him.
“Mr. Adrien, can you answer these questions for Ms. Louise?”
“Mr. Adrien, could it be that the rumors about Ms. Louise five years ago involve you?”
“Ms. Louise isn’t at fault here. Five years ago, I was drunk and caused trouble. She’s the real victim,” Adrien clarified.
A murmur ran through the café.
“Wait… does this mean you’re the father of Ms. Louise’s children? The man who got her pregnant before marriage?”
“Wow, this is huge! We came here for nothing less than this!”
“Exactly, I feel sorry for Ms. Louise. Hopefully, this will clear up any negative opinions about her!”
“Is Ms. Louise back in Struyria for you, Mr. Adrien?”
Adrien stood tall, his chest puffed out in triumph.
“Yes. Ms. Louise gave birth to triplets for me. Not only do I want to recognize the children, but I also want to marry her. From now on, no one will slander her!”
The crowd gasped in disbelief. Phones and cameras once again zeroed in on Emmeline. “Ms. Louise is transforming into a wealthy young lady—like an ugly duckling becoming a swan!”
Emmeline opened her mouth to refute Adrien’s words, but before she could speak, a voice came from outside.
“Emmeline, you shouldn’t do this. How can you be so greedy?”
The crowd turned toward the newcomer, a young woman walking in with confidence. It was Alana—another prominent wealthy young lady. The entertainment reporters instantly recognized her.
“What do you mean, Ms. Lane? Got some inside information for us?” the crowd pressed, eager for details.
Alana smiled smugly. “Of course, I have insider news.” She pointed toward Emmeline and added, “Since she’s already given Mr. Adrien children, she shouldn’t be making moves on Mr. Abel. Isn’t that cheating on Mr. Adrien and causing trouble between the two of them?”
The room fell silent for a moment before voices erupted.
“Are you saying that Ms. Louise is trying to seduce Mr. Abel?”
“Is she trying to steal the Ryker Group’s CEO?”
“Her intentions are so obvious!”
The crowd’s whispers grew louder as cameras turned toward Emmeline, clicking away relentlessly.
“Alana! Did you arrange all of this?” Emmeline stormed down the stairs and stood face-to-face with Alana.
Alana feigned innocence. “How could I arrange this? I only came here after seeing the trending searches. I just don’t want Timothy to be affected by all this.”
“This whole thing is too strange,” Emmeline retorted. “Who else would be behind it if not you?”
“Emmeline, don’t slander me,” Alana snapped. “I haven’t even gotten over you trying to seduce my fiancé!”
“Shut up!” Emmeline shouted in fury. “Who exactly are you accusing of seducing your fiancé?”
Alana raised an eyebrow, her voice cold. “Abel and my son are staying at your place. How do you explain that?”
Emmeline froze.
How would she explain that the powerful, wealthy Mr. Abel was a tenant in her apartment? Would anyone believe her?
