Chapter 36
“Wow, that’s amazing! I love green plants, roses, lilies, and wisteria!” Emmeline exclaimed, her eyes lighting up as she pictured the perfect garden.
Abel, standing beside her, pulled out his phone and immediately dialed Mateo, the gardener for the Ryker Mansion. “The platform’s around three thousand four hundred square feet. I want the garden done in three days.”
“Understood, Mr. Ryker. I’ll begin preparations tonight,” Mateo replied, his voice steady and efficient.
Emmeline pretended to be in awe of Abel’s ability to make things happen with just a phone call. “Wow, Mr. Ryker, you’re amazing! You really can get anything done so quickly! Finally, I’ll have my own garden!” She said with exaggerated enthusiasm.
Abel smirked, watching her reaction. Is she really Wonder Doctor? he wondered to himself. This isn’t what I expected from such an important person. Maybe I misjudged her.
“I want a swing in the garden too—it would be so romantic to sit on it!” Emmeline added, tilting her head as she continued with her act.
Abel raised an eyebrow. “I’ll have Mateo set that up for you tomorrow.”
Emmeline’s face brightened. “Yay! I’ll be swinging all day!” she exclaimed, her excitement practically bubbling over.
Meanwhile, Alan was walking toward the Ryker Mansion. He had been asked by Rosaline to accompany Timothy more often since he had been rescued not long ago. Normally, this would have been a good opportunity for him to get closer to Abel, but he was distracted with something much more urgent.
Two nights ago, Alana had drugged Abel, and the two of them had slept together. She knew it would be unlikely to conceive on the first try, but she was determined to make it happen. She was well aware that Abel would never be interested in her unless she used the drug.
What should I do now? she thought. Luckily, Auntie Alondra has made some arrangements for me. In one month, I’ll definitely be pregnant. Once I am, I can claim it’s Abel’s. He won’t be able to prove otherwise.
When Alana arrived at the Ryker Mansion, she learned that Timothy was out with Abel. This infuriated her for a moment, but then a devious thought crossed her mind. This is actually a perfect opportunity.
She could use the time to sneak away and meet with the male worker she had been counting on for her plans.
Pregnancy is the key to beating Emmeline. Once I’m pregnant, Abel won’t be able to resist me.
She entered the mansion to find Rosaline waiting for her. “Madame Ryker, both Abel and Timothy are gone. There’s no reason for me to stay here,” Alana said, feigning disappointment.
“This is your chance,” Rosaline replied with a stern look. “If you manage to bear Abel’s child, he won’t marry anyone else. I won’t let Timmy have a stepmother.”
Alana’s cheeks turned pink at the thought, but she quickly regained composure. “I hope I’ll conceive this time…” she muttered.
Rosaline’s eyes widened. “What did you just say?”
“I was with Abel two nights ago…” Alana said, her voice dropping slightly, as if shy about revealing too much.
“That’s wonderful!” Rosaline exclaimed, clearly excited. “If you’re pregnant, I’ll have another grandchild! Abel will marry you in no time.”
“I won’t disappoint you, Madame Ryker,” Alana whispered, biting her lower lip.
Rosaline nodded, satisfied, but her tone softened. “It’s such a shame that Abel and Timothy aren’t here right now.”
“I think I’ll go home and return tomorrow when they’re around,” Alana said quietly, her eyes glinting with determination.
“Alright, take care of yourself, Alana,” Rosaline replied, her concern evident, though she was mostly focused on her own plans.
As soon as Alana stepped outside the mansion, she pulled out her phone and dialed Alondra.
“I want to set up an appointment with the male worker from the Imperial Palace. I need to get pregnant as soon as possible,” Alana said, urgency in her voice.
“Don’t worry, dear. The male worker is ready whenever you are. Just let me know where you want to meet him,” Alondra reassured her.
Alana took a moment to think before deciding. “There’s a hotel in the suburbs. It’s remote, so no one will recognize me there.”
“Great choice,” Alondra replied. “I’ll tell him to check in and wait for you. Enjoy your time with him, and don’t stop until you’re pregnant!”
Alana’s face flushed with embarrassment at Alondra’s words. This is my only chance. I have to make sure I succeed this time.
With her resolve firmed, Alana hung up the phone, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. The next month would be crucial, and she was determined to make it work—no matter the cost.
