Chapter 71

Alondra helped Alana to her feet, her voice filled with concern. “She’s pregnant, and these intense scenes frighten her.”

“Quick, get her back to the living room so she can rest,” Rosaline instructed. “She’s carrying my grandchild!”

The bodyguards moved quickly, dragging the man from the bushes, tying him up, and splashing cold water on him to wake him. Meanwhile, the family doctor confirmed that Emmeline had indeed been drugged, and the surveillance footage was retrieved.

The video showed the young man approaching Emmeline, handing her a glass of red wine, and repeatedly coaxing her to drink. Despite Emmeline’s resistance, her face began to flush as she took a few sips.

“Who invited this man?” Adrien bellowed, his anger rising. “I’ll tear him to pieces!”

Alana couldn’t hold back her fury. She lunged at the man and slapped him hard across the face. “How dare you drug my cousin? I’ll kill you!”

“That’s right!” Alondra joined in, slapping him on the other cheek. “You deserve to die for what you did to my stepdaughter!”

The young man quickly realized he was being set up and knew that revealing their involvement would not only be dangerous but would also lead to his certain death at their hands.

“Please, Mr. Ryker, I didn’t mean to—” he stammered, his voice desperate. “I just came for some free food and drink, and when I saw that beautiful woman, I couldn’t resist! But I swear, I didn’t do anything! She nearly killed me before I could even touch her!”

“You deserve to die!” Adrien responded, landing two powerful punches on the man.

Abel, who had been standing off to the side, walked over and kicked the young man twice, knocking him out again.

“Enough, both of you!” Landen said sternly, frowning. “We’re not going to ruin the occasion with this man’s death. Just throw him out!”

“He’s getting off easy this time,” Adrien growled. “How dare he try to hurt my future wife? He’d better hope I don’t ever see him again!”

Emmeline was carried to a guest room to rest, and Adrien stayed by the door, watching over her with the three boys close by. Abel stood a little off to the side, feeling out of place.

Adrien shot him a cold glare. “Abel, can’t you see? This is a family matter. Outsiders like you aren’t welcome here!”

“I’ll go downstairs then,” Abel replied reluctantly. “Call me if you need anything.”

Adrien smirked. “What do you mean? I can take care of my wife if she needs anything.”

Abel’s voice was icy. “Emmeline is my good friend. Is it wrong for me to check on her? Besides, she’s not your wife yet!”

“She’s not your wife now, but she will be soon,” Adrien said confidently. “After all, we already have three children together.”

“Suit yourself then!” Abel snapped, turning away with a huff, slamming the door behind him as he left.

In the banquet hall, Alana was growing uneasy. She noticed that Abel had been upstairs for over ten minutes and hadn’t come back yet.

She leaned toward Alondra and whispered, “Abel still hasn’t returned downstairs. I’m afraid he might have feelings for Emmeline!”

“Damn that Emmeline!” Alondra muttered through gritted teeth. “Why is she so lucky? Nothing we do seems to stick to her!”

“No, I’m not giving up yet. I want that woman to suffer,” Alana said darkly, clinging to Alondra’s arm. “Please help me think of something, Auntie. I won’t let that b*tch get away with this!”

Alondra thought for a moment, then her face broke into a sly grin. “I’ve got an idea!”

“What’s your plan, Auntie?”

“If we can’t bring her down directly, we’ll target her children instead.”

“Her children!” Alana’s eyes widened as she understood her aunt’s twisted plan.

Meanwhile, as Abel left the room, Adrien decided it was time to shoo the boys away.

“Your mommy needs some peace and quiet. Go downstairs and play for a while. I’ll stay here and look after her,” Adrien said with a stern but reassuring tone.

“We want to stay with Mommy,” Sun protested unhappily.

“Yes! Mommy will be worried if she wakes up and doesn’t see us,” Moon added, his face full of concern.

“We’re not leaving Mommy’s side!” Star pouted, his small arms crossed in defiance.

Adrien sighed and patted their heads. “Don’t worry. Once your mommy wakes up, I’ll send someone to tell you. You’ll see her soon.”

“Really?” the boys asked hesitantly, still not wanting to leave their mother.
