Chapter 49
Rosaline scowled, “Don’t try to talk your way out of it. Didn’t Abel stay at your place with Timmy for more than a month? I couldn’t even stop my son from doing that!”
Alana pointed a finger at Emmeline, her voice dripping with venom. “That’s right. I saw it with my own eyes. She forced her way between me and Abel. This woman has no shame!”
“Watch your mouth, Alana!” Adrien snapped, stepping forward to defend Emmeline.
“Gee, Adrien. I can’t believe you’re still on her side. I guess you don’t mind her cheating on you,” Alana taunted with a sneer.
Adrien stood speechless, unable to come up with a response.
Helios, his eyes fiery with anger, yelled at Alana, “Don’t insult my mommy! I’ll call the cops if you keep using that language!”
“That’s right! The cops will arrest you because slander is a crime!” Endymion added, raising a brow in challenge.
“We won’t forgive you for picking on our mommy!” Hesperus stood firmly in front of Emmeline, his expression fierce.
Rosaline looked on, her affection for the triplets mingled with a twinge of jealousy. Why couldn’t these triplets be Abel’s children? But Alana was pregnant now, so that was no longer an issue. Rosaline would be content if Alana had triplets or even twins, as long as Abel had the same number of children as Adrien.
With a cold smile, Rosaline warned, “Emmeline, stop trying to get Abel. He’s going to marry Alana and start a big family with her.”
Alana, full of arrogance, jabbed a finger at Emmeline’s face. “So, you better stay away! Don’t get too close to Abel!”
Emmeline remained calm, but her patience was running thin. “My, my. That’s quite a cocky tone. Who’s pushing my precious sister and nephews around?”
At that moment, Ethan stepped into the scene, striding over confidently. His large frame created a protective barrier between Emmeline and the others.
“Uncle Ethan! Uncle Ethan! Perfect timing! They picked on Mommy!” The triplets cried in unison.
Ethan rolled up his sleeves with a smirk. “I dare them to try me!”
Alana and Rosaline instinctively took a few steps back at the sight of Ethan’s intimidating presence. They both knew too well what he was capable of, especially after the way he humiliated Alana at her birthday party.
“Ah, so it’s you, Alana,” Ethan sneered. “Are you throwing your weight around again? It’s high time we settle the score, including the old one.”
Alana’s face paled. She remembered the humiliating incident and knew she’d have to face the consequences if the siblings lost their cool right now.
“I can’t be bothered to continue with this,” Alana huffed, grabbing Timothy’s hand and sneering. “Consider yourself lucky that you’re off the hook for now. Come on.”
“Pretty mommy! I don’t want to go with Alana!” Timothy burst into tears, reaching out for Emmeline.
Rosaline scooped Timothy up, trying to calm him. “Be good now, Timmy. Don’t waste your time with this woman. There’s not a good bone in her body.”
“Pretty mommy!” Timothy continued to sob, his cries growing quieter as Rosaline shoved him into the car.
Emmeline stood helplessly, her heart breaking as she heard Timothy’s cries fade with the speeding car.
“Timmy…” Her tears flowed freely, unlike anything she had ever shown before. It was as if a part of her was being torn away.
Sighing, Helios looked at the situation and commented, “By the looks of it, Mommy can’t send us to school now.”
“Yeah. How can she drive when she’s heartbroken?” Endymion frowned, concerned for her.
Hesperus shook his head, adding, “It’ll be bad if she spaces out behind the wheel. Never mind. Let’s just call a cab.”
“I’ll drive you. You’ll be late if we don’t leave now,” Adrien offered, stepping forward.
“But what about Mommy?” The triplets looked worried, reluctant to leave Emmeline in such a state.
“Leave her to me. Hurry to school now. I’ll take your mommy home,” Ethan said, his voice soothing but firm.
“Thank you, Uncle Ethan,” the triplets expressed their gratitude, their faces brightening a little.
Adrien nodded, leading the boys to the car and hurrying them to their kindergarten.
On the way, Helios whispered to his brothers, “Should we keep tabs on Adrien to make sure he’s a good fit for Mommy? The last thing we want is for her to be ill-treated.”
Endymion nodded, his expression serious. “We can work for Mommy if Adrien cuts it to be her husband.”
Hesperus added, “It’d be ideal if Adrien passes the test. He’s our daddy after all. It’ll save a lot of hassle in the future.”
Helios smirked. “Why don’t we check out the Rykers’ residence?”
Endymion and Hesperus both agreed with nods. “Sounds good to me!”
Helios turned to Adrien. “Mr. Adrien, take us to your family’s residence after you pick us up from school.”
Adrien, caught off guard by the request but unable to refuse, nodded in agreement. “Alright, boys. We’ll make a stop after school.”
