Chapter 48
“Never mind then. I’ll wire the fees to you later.” Emmeline waved her hand dismissively.
“Since we haven’t started the work yet, a hundred for the drive here will do,” Benjamin said.
“Sure. Thanks,” Emmeline nodded.
Benjamin quickly gathered the cleaners. “Let’s go, ladies.”
As the cleaners piled into the vehicles, the two MPVs drove off, heading to their next destination.
Meanwhile, Adrien called his security team over. “Deliver these roses to Ryker Group to decorate the lobby.”
The bodyguards quickly got to work, sorting through the 999 roses, preparing them for the task.
Emmeline was about to head out to pick up the triplets from school when she heard a familiar voice.
“Pretty mommy?”
A boy raced from the corner of the street, calling out to Emmeline with a sobbing voice.
Her heartstrings tugged, and Emmeline spun around to find Timothy standing there, his backpack slung over his shoulder. His chubby face was painted with hurt and sorrow.
With tears welling up in her eyes, Emmeline spread her arms wide and cried, “Timmy! You’re here, Timmy!”
“I miss you like crazy, bro!” The triplets shouted in unison, their faces lighting up with excitement.
“Wah!” Timothy wailed, his little arms reaching out for her as he jumped into her embrace, clinging to her neck. “Don’t you want me anymore, Mommy? Why are you sending me away?”
“That’s not true, Timmy. It’s not that I don’t want you. It’s just that I don’t get to decide when it comes to you,” Emmeline explained, her voice breaking with emotion.
“I don’t care! I don’t want to leave Mommy! I don’t want Alana! Alana is not my mommy!” Timothy sobbed, his words full of defiance.
“You can’t say that, Timmy. As much as I love you, I’m just an outsider in the end. Alana is your real mommy,” Emmeline said softly, trying to reason with him.
Adrien stepped forward, his voice stern. “Yeah, Timothy. These three boys are Emmeline’s sons. You are Alana and Abel’s son, not mine and Emmeline’s.”
“You’re lying! My mommy is Emmeline, not Alana. You’re all lying to me!” Timothy cried out in frustration.
“Your daddy is Abel, so your mommy must be Alana,” Adrien insisted, his voice cold.
“No, my daddy is Abel, and my mommy is Emmeline. You’ve got it all wrong!” Timothy retorted vehemently.
Emmeline pulled Timothy closer, holding him tightly in her arms. “Timmy, your mommy is Alana. You shouldn’t argue with her. She loves you. All mommies love their children,” she whispered softly.
“But Alana doesn’t love me. I feel like I’ve been kidnapped, and Alana is the kidnapper!” Timothy’s eyes were wide with distress, tears streaming down his face as he looked up at Emmeline.
“Don’t say that. Why would she do that to her own son?” Emmeline whispered, brushing the tears from his cheeks.
“Mommy, why can’t Timothy stay with me? I feel bad for him,” Helios said, his voice trembling with concern.
Endymion’s eyes glistened with unshed tears. “Yeah, Mommy. I feel like Timothy and we are real brothers.”
“I think so too. I bet his mommy isn’t Alana. You adults got it all mixed up!” Hesperus added, his face red with emotion, tears falling freely.
“Mommy, don’t send me away!” Timothy choked on his sobs, holding on tighter.
Emmeline gently tucked Timothy’s small body into her chest, her heart breaking. “Be a good boy, Timmy. It would freak everyone out if you leave the school on your own. I’ll drive you back, alright?”
Timothy refused to let go. “I don’t want to go back. Sob, sob, sob. I don’t want to leave you. Don’t leave me. Sob, sob, sob…”
Just then, a sharp voice rang out from behind them.
“Emmeline! So it was you who abducted my child!” Alana’s voice was filled with fury.
“Have you no shame, Emmeline?” Rosaline added, scowling as she approached them. “You’re Adrien’s woman, and you gave birth to his children. Stop trying to seduce Abel and steering Timmy away from us. Alana is carrying another child now. Have you no morals?”
Emmeline slowly rose to her feet, a deep breath escaping her lips as she faced them. “I did nothing of the sort. I never seduced Abel. You’ve got the wrong idea about me!”
